What happens when design moves beyond the drawing? As part of the WE@UIC series, Robert Becker, Adjunct Assistant Professor and cofounder of Studio Becker Xu, will discuss the studio’s hands-on approach to the physical crafting of space and the interactive objects that inhabit it.

For some, the design process ends with a drawing. For them, however, a design is not fully realized until it becomes tangible and shared, enriched by the material and social dynamics that give it meaning.

Studio Becker Xu is an architecture and design practice that explores how design permeates everyday life, from the environments we inhabit and the objects we use to the images that shape our material and visual culture.
