YArch Admissions

YArch 2019: July 8 - August 2, 2019

The application for YArch 2019 will become available in early 2019. To receive an email when the application has opened, submit our online interest form.

YArch is open to current undergraduate students and college graduates without formal training in architecture. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and most applicants will receive an admission decision within 2 weeks of applying. Space is limited, so we encourage you to apply early. Students who are admitted to the program will be informed via email.

Application Details

All applications and supplemental materials are submitted online through our online application. Application requirements include:
  1. Statement of Intent: 500 words describing your interest in architecture and how YArch fits into your education or career history and future plans. Successful statements of intent include specific reasons for applying to YArch; the best statements elaborate beyond "because I want to be an architect" or "I want to prepare for graduate school in architecture."

  2. Examples of creative work: Two color reproductions of your creative original work (in PDF format). Appropriate submissions include sketches, drawings, sculpture, collages, graphic design, photography, and other designed physical or digital pieces. Creative writing is acceptable if at least one visual work is submitted.

  3. Resume or CV

  4. Non-refundable $40 application fee, paid by credit card through online application.

International students: YArch is a non-degree, non-credit program, meaning we cannot provide the necessary paperwork for international participants to obtain a visa. International students are welcome to apply if they already have in-status visas that permit them to complete this kind of program.

Admitted Students

After being admitted to YArch, students will need to confirm their registration and submit the $2,200 registration fee. Admitted students will receive further information about the program schedule, recommended preparation, and other details as the program approaches.
