Martin Corullon’s lecture, Architecture within architecture, focuses on two recent projects by METRO ARQUITETOS in São Paulo, Brazil, that deal with existing structures and transform their original uses and urban insertion: the expansion of MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo, a new building connected to the iconic museum designed by Lina Bo Bardi, and Edifício Renata Sampaio, a former office building converted into a multi-use complex in a central area.

Showcasing the complete process, from design to construction, Martin Corullon addresses various topics related to contemporary architectural practice, such as environmental issues, preservation of historical heritage, new construction techniques, impacts on the urban landscape, and the influence of interventions on social dynamics.

The lecture will be followed by a conversation with Clinical Assistant Professor Barbara Materia.
