Faculty contribute to Lisbon Architecture Triennale

The work of several School faculty has been included or recognized in this year’s Lisbon Architecture Triennale, The Poetics of Reason.

Jimmy Carter, Abby Chang, Francesco Marullo, and Agata Siemionow produced one of eleven independent projects associated with the exhibition. Their contribution, A Certain Kind of Life, explores the Carthusian monastery as an architecture of absolute rationality, wherein the form of life cannot be detached from the space and rituals of the liturgy the monastery shelters. The project grew out of a series of studios and seminars within the School. Images of the project are viewable on the School’s Instagram.

Thomas Kelley’s firm Norman Kelley was named to the shortlist of the Début Award, which recognizes a practice whose members are under 35.

Finally, Sam Jacob and Ania Jaworska contributed to a section of the Triennale titled What Is Ornament? Jacob will also participate in Talk Talk Talk, a conference organized to coincide with the exhibition’s closing days.

The Triennale opened October 3 and remains on view through December 2.
