From the organizers: "The 2016 How to Architecture! competition challenged students from around the world to design a Beacon which connects architecture to the state of cultural interactions today. Designed for a hypothetical festival in New York City, each student's Beacon design offered its own voice about architecture's role, relevance and impact in our daily lives. Drawing both international and national entries, the competition reveals architecture's capacity to imagine and cultivate intimacy, while coalescing omnipresent cultures in our contemporary age. How does pop culture—the listicle, the headline, the meme, or the snapshot—come alive through architecture?”
