Additional Requirements for International Applicants
1. Proof of English proficiency
Applicants may submit TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE scores. UIC does not accept Duolingo scores. Find further information, including minimum score requirements, on the international admissions page.
2. Academic credentials from previous institutions
Different records may be required depending on the country in which you've completed prior schooling. Find the specific requirements for your country on the international admissions page. All credentials are evaluated by UIC, meaning we do not require a third-party evaluation. Any applicant with international credentials will be charged a $100 International Credential Evaluation Fee by the University. Fee waivers are not available at this time.
3. I-20 Request documents
Requirements include a Declaration and Certification of Finances (DCF), Evidence of Funding, and copy of your passport. These documents are not required until you've been admitted to the university; however we encourage international applicants to submit these before admission decisions have been made in order to expedite the process. Other Notes for International Applicants
STEM Designation
None of the School of Architecture's degree programs are STEM-designated or eligible for the STEM OPT extension. International students who complete one of our degrees may be eligible for up to one year of OPT upon graduation. MArch and MAD-Crit students may pursue CPT during their time in our program for appropriate internship positions.
On-Campus Employment
International students are typically eligible for on-campus employment positions. International students may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year. This includes all work, both on campus and off.
